Do you have an all-gender restroom in your workplace? Why not? Recently, a task force at the University of North Texas (UNT) Library Annex, a library building office space at a tier-one research university in Denton, Texas, recognized the need for an all-gender restroom in our workplace. We executed an operational plan to convert an existing restroom at the UNT Library Annex into an all-gender restroom. This article provides insight into our process, explores challenges that arose, shares lessons learned, and gives words of advice. In finishing this article, the reader will understand the need for an all-gender restroom in the workplace, as well as practical steps to manage an all-gender restroom addition of their own.
