The authors evaluate the onboarding process at their academic library by testing a new onboarding manual that emphasizes building connections with colleagues at the institution and professional development. As a cloud-based document, all Library colleagues could comment and make suggestions, creating buy-in. Through further interviews and focus groups the authors discovered the some of the most difficult challenges of starting a new job in a new library. The study reveals what new Librarians want to see in an onboarding manual, and how they would like their introductions to their new institution to be structured.Downloads
